Praise God, Kate. Thank you for sharing. My closest friend is one who was delivered from demons from Buddhism and the new age movement.

Where I live now it is a culture with a lot of mysticism.. I am so encouraged to hear your testimony and praying that I could be a part of seeing another person locally saved out of this type of spiritual bondage.

that's great to hear about your friend. I think there is a big movement of people coming out of the new age to follow Jesus. My friend set up a fb group a few years ago when we both got saved and we have over 1000 members, and that's mainly people from the UK so there must be thousands more worldwide! Praying for you that you can help plant seeds with others in your area. God bless.

Really good to hear your story Kate. I relate to a lot of what you said, especially about health, which is not my strongest area! it's not the first story I've heard of searching during the COVID years and finding God :)

Thank you for reading and relating to it. Sorry to hear you are struggling with health too. I think there must be hundreds of us new believers who have come out of the covid times, and also through realising the new age is a lie. My friend started a group on fb for us and it's got over a 1000 members now!

Have you tried writing about spirituality/wellness from a Christian perspective? I keep thinking I'll try to do so, though I doubt there is much openness... but you never know :)

Hi Heather, I’m not sure what you mean, do you mean for a mainstream audience? I write about wellbeing for secular magazines, and I feel like there’s kind of an unwritten rule of what I can and can’t say! But I would love to hear more of your thoughts about writing about spirituality and wellness from a Christian perspective.

Hey Kate... just fascinating! Praise God, He saw you searching for Him frantically in the dark and brought you to Himself.

I wrote a three part series, in some ways connected to your experience...please check it out.

Praise God, sista! Keep writing! (Your testimony reminds me of what I wish I'd learned earlier, before Christ grabbed me in my wanderings, quite unexpectedly, at age 38.):

"Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God; and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God..." 1st John 4:1-3a

Yes me too! And I was even later than you, 42. I was so excited that there were spirits at all I didn’t think to question the genuineness, of what I was hearing, reading etc.

Fascinating reading... I'm still on the fence as I have too many questions that I cannot find answers to. Over the years I have spent many hours petitioning Jesus (often in my deepest darkest times) but have not had any kind of response that I am aware of and nothing has changed. Maybe I will have to give in and get a Bible :-) As an aside, I'm interested to know whether you would go back to your Tai Chi practice or is that a no no?

Expand full comment

I wouldn't do Tai Chi anymore as all of these practises are different ways to connect spiritually to an energy that is not from God. I don't miss any of it anymore. I can honestly say that life is so much better without these practises, and just praying reading my Bible, and doing non-spiritual exercise. I am not sure why Jesus wouldn't have responded in any way when you have tried for many hours, but it sounds like you are right where you need to be right now, just figuring out the answers to your questions. Church can be a great place to meet people and get answers to all those questions, I found it quite a confusing transition at first!

Sometimes people change without noticing it. I know someone who has changed a great deal since coming to know Jesus, and yet she seems scarcely aware of it and might not be aware at all if others weren't pointing it out to her. I have been through long-lasting deep and dark times myself, and the real changes were quite late in coming -- my mid-60s and beyond. I don't know why that is, but sometimes that's how it goes.

Finding a Bible sounds like a good idea, and possibly a study group that is focused on study rather than chit-chat. Finding a church can be more difficult, with so many of them descending into the culture rather than demonstrating the way out. Both of these things ought to be approached with prayer.

Kate- Known by Aubrey Sampson is amazing. It’s about believing who God says you are!

Thank you for your testimony. I was saved at age 72. It is truly amazing the lengths to which God will go to draw us to him.

I relate big time. I wrote a novel Receiving Grace that is based on true events from my active involvement in the occult which brought me fame & fortune but something happened to change that. God prevailed. Grace is nine when the story begins the mystery. My substack reveals present day spiritual encounters & human interest tales. I recently subscribed to your substack since we have a lot in common. Building together a community in Christ is what we need in this spiritual war.

sounds like a fascinating story. I will add your book to list to read. I'm currently reading some testimony books to help inspire me to write my own, if it's part of God's plan!
